Hagara the Stormbinder is Dead!
by Arkanis on Dec.07, 2011, under World of Warcraft
We interrupt your normal browsing experience to bring you this horrifying announcement.
Tonight, in circumstances that are still not completely clear, our beloved friend Hagara the Stormbinder was killed by a rag tag band of merry misfits commonly known as the Band of Brothers.
Details are still unclear but this raw footage from the incident should shed some light on what truly happened here.
That makes our WoW guild 4/8 after just three raids. Very nice work guys!
Ragnaros Finally Falls!
by Arkanis on Nov.07, 2011, under World of Warcraft
Man it took us a while but we finally got Ragnaros.
It took some six weeks of wiping, most of which was on the last transition or the Scions. This is actually the first time we’ve cleared the full content before a new major patch since Ragnaros was in Molten Core. Too bad we had to see a nerf before we could pull it off. Goal for 4.3 is to get Deathwing down before the nerf. We’ll see how that goes.
WoW, SWTOR, EVE and Minecraft
by Arkanis on Jun.24, 2011, under EVE Online, Minecraft, SWTOR, World of Warcraft
Hey folks!
The Band of Brothers empire marches on with a vibrant World of Warcraft guild, a smattering of EVE Online and tons and tons of Minecraft. One of our members has fellated his way into a Star Wars: The Old Republic beta invite and we’ve already begun setting up the Band of Brothers guild for that.

The WoW 4.2 patch is on the horizon with projections suggesting that we’ll see it this Tuesday. I’d site evidence from MMO-Champion however the Curse network is now into it’s third consecutive day of network outage. If this goes on much longer I have to wonder how they recover. Someone is gonna step up and take their place eventually. We’re moving our main website from WoWStead to Guild Launch partly because of this but also because Guild Launch has multi-game support. Handy since our membership spans many games.
All that aside, we’re pretty excited about the Firelands update. We haven’t cleared all of the 4.1 content so hopefully with the nerfs coming we’ll get through those quickly and begin working on Firelands.
Since I last posted, there has been a shake up in the WoW guild leadership. It’s actually quite old news but I stepped down as the Guild Master and Kressilac has replaced me. My fervor for WoW has waned and now I’m really only around for raids and the occasional guild event.

Strykermyst’s long hours of bone smoking have finally paid off and landed him a SWTOR beta invite. Additionally one of our members is pulling some strings and trying to land us a guild beta invite. Hopefully that bears fruit. SWTOR looks amazing and even though it seems to be WoW with light sabers, there is a lot of buzz in the guild about this one and I suspect a lot of people will be making the switch at least temporarily.

CCP dropped Incarna this week and our few EVE players, myself included, have been enjoying watching our pod pilots wander about their humble abode. My main character is off in wormhole space so I chose to create a new character to check out the Incarna. The new player experience is revamped a bit as well. It’s much better than it used to be. With Dust 514 on the horizon and the full implementation of Incarna coming before the end of the year, CCP is proving more and more that they are the only MMO developer out there that truly gets it.

Minecraft continues to fleece us of our free time. A new patch is coming soon (hopefully) for Minecraft as well. Patch 1.7 is said to have some really cool features added and I personally cannot wait to see what the ‘Adventure Update’ has to offer.
That’s the update for now. Look for more as we revamp our main site to better support our multi-game approach.
WoW: Band òf Brothers Update
by Arkanis on Jan.05, 2011, under Announcements
Last night we received our first guild achievement by completing the Throne of Tides instance on Heroic mode.
Strykadin, tanked and Bustàcap healed while Kressilac and Dosseir laid down the dps. We had to pug the final spot but we got a good druid from the Dalaran server named Gigii. Many thanks to him for sticking it out while we noobed it up a bit.
In other news we also reached level 3 as a guild and now have the Mount Up guild perk giving us a 10% riding speed boost when not in combat. Very nice.
We are of course recruiting mature, adult players who want to help us grow so if you are looking for a home on the Duskwood server, check us out.
Minecraft
by Arkanis on Oct.27, 2010, under Announcements

For those of you who have been living under a rock for the past few months, Minecraft is an independent game developed by Notch.
I never played the ‘classic’ version of the game but since it’s released it has evolved into a survival game where you are free to roam safely (mostly) during the day but at night zombies, skeletons and various other nasties spawn and are interested only in your demise.
Your game starts at the beginning of the day and you have roughly 20 minutes of ‘daylight’ to establish a fortified location in which to wait out the night. Key features of your home should include some sort of barrier to keep out the baddies and some light. (The monsters can only spawn where there is no light so without a torch in your shelter you might just find a zombie looking for a hug inside your home!)
The game features a number of resources including: wood, stone, sand, dirt, iron, gold and MUCH MUCH MORE! These resources are used to craft items and tools that you can use to build more exotic structures and do so much faster. At this point the game evolves into more of a game of building than surviving but is still just as fun.
Notch is releasing a new version of the game this week coupled with the Halloween holiday. Check out some of the features!
Also, BoBGuild’s server will soon become a white list server open to those who are interested. We’ll be doing a map rebuild after the patch is released, so we won’t be opening it up to the world until then.

So a friend and Honorary Brother turned me on to this video blog about gaming that is pretty entertaining.
Her name is Kate and she’s a hot geek, what more do you need?
History has a way…

… of repeating itself.
It seems as each new World of Warcraft expansion approaches, the guild that I call home begins to crumble. And so it was with Disassociated this day.
As of about 90 minutes ago, Disassociated is no longer a raiding guild. Fully half of the raiding members of the guild departed to join some other guild who was raiding more often or more consistently or whatever. This is not a surprise though it did happen a bit faster than I expected.
You see, we’ve been through this before. In the beginning, or Classic WoW if you prefer, it was the guild Headstrong. Clearing MC regularly and making progress in BWL, Headstrong seemed like a very healthy guild. But the Burning Crusade expansion loomed on the horizon with all it’s potential and in truth it was a spectre of death for many guilds, including Headstrong.
It was from the ashes of Headstrong that we became Band òf Brothers. A moniker we took from the popular miniseries as well as one of our close friends military experience. BòB lasted through Burning Crusade and it’s many challenges until Wrath of the Lich King crept up. Much like Headstrong, though for differing reasons, many of the raiding members left to do their own thing. BòB was done.
They formed Disassociated, and now history has once again repeated itself. Most curious about all of this is how each of these guilds were comprised of the same core players; Uniting and then scattering, only to unite again when a new challenge arose.
I wonder if the latest expansion, Cataclysm, will serve as a catalyst once again.
And something… different is born.

Welcome to the Band òf Brothers website.
Band òf Brothers is a group of video game players and enthusiasts who have, for the most part, been playing MMO’s together for the better part of a decade. Going back as far as text based MUD‘s in some cases, most of our members are seasoned gamers who enjoy the social aspect of games as much as the strategic and tactical aspect.
Over the years, some members have gone on to play other games but for the most part the core group has stayed together through games like Star War Galaxies, World of Warcraft, Everquest and EVE Online. Regardless of what virtual world we call home, this site represents our online presence.
As we begin to flesh things out around here you will likely find helpful information about us, the games we play along with whatever else we deem appropriate.
Thanks for stopping by.
